Sources are continuing to report new features in Tiger 8A294 build. The latest reports reveal USB webcams compatibility on video snapshots, details on TextEdit impovements, parental controls and Windows sharing.
As we all know, in the Accounts preferences pane and in Adressbook, there is an option to add a picture to a user or a card by possibly taking a video snapshot using a digital camera. Tiger can take this video snapshot too, but the feature surprisingly works with USB webcams such as a Logitech QuickCam Zoom. Let's hope they"ll add this USB compatbility to iChat 3.0 as well.
TextEdit has been improved a lot in Tiger, this new version (1.4), allows editing of document properties, adding or editing of tables, spacing, lists, links and other things. Other features like printing page numbers are also available. Considering TextEdit has had .doc file format support since version 1.3, Apple could easily rename this piece of software "iWord" :).
Parental controls are available through account preferences pane. They allow you to precisely configure the rights of each user on the four main system applications: Safari, Mail, iChat and the Finder. Here is a page that won?t show its content because the user hasn?t been allowed to see it.
Windows sharing adds new options that enchance security. It's now possible to choose individually which accounts will be shared with Windows users.
This build also adds some help for those who have lost their password on the login window. This help is accessible through a "Lost password" button.
