Apple releases iTunes 4.8 that can play video content

Apple has released iTunes 4.8 through its web site. The new version officially only brings some enhancements related to iPod syncing with calendar and contacts, as mentions Apple on the "Read Before You Install iTunes.app" file that is present in the install image :

"iTunes 4.8 includes new Music Store features and support for transferring contacts and calendars from your computer to your iPod (requires Mac OS X version 10.4 on your computer)."

However, readers reported, as we could verify by ourselves, that iTunes is now capable of playing QuickTime video content that you may drag on a playlist. The content is payed by default on the jacket area but a setting in the preferences allows you to chose to play it in a separate window or on full screen mode. The full screen mode may also be activated through iTunes' main window.
