iTunes sells half a billion songs

Apple announced it has hit the half a billion songs download mark on its iTunes Music store during the week-end.

The company had launched a countdown last week with prices to win for every 100 000 downloads until the 500 000th. The 500 000th song downloader will win 10 iPods, $10 000 of iTunes music downloads and iTunes checks for his family and friends. The name of the winner will be announced soon.
