According to ThinkSecret, an Intel-based Mac mini could be released during MacWorld SF 2006 and claims this new Mac mini will sport TiVo like features.
The author believes that Apple will ship the new Mac mini with Front Row 2 and possibly with a DVR application that ressembles to the TiVo's.
Last year, there were rumors (2) that the Mac mini could accept an iPod dock connector. ThinkSecret believes this feature may finally be added to the Mac mini as well.
Two months later, Intel showed at IDF a Mac mini like prototype, based on the Intel architecture. At that time, Apple had not yet announced that it was switching to the Intel architecture, it did that in June, during WWDC 2005.
Apple was rumoured to be preparing en entrance to the "Media Center" or digital DVR market since the introduction of the Mac mini on January of this year. These markets are currently owned by Microsoft and TiVo.
TiVo recently announced that it adds iPod support for the content of its digital DVR. Will it be enough for the company to survive the arrival of a big player like Apple in this market? Time will tell if the rumours are true and if TiVo has a plan.
