Apple has announced new products today during a special event (see full transcript on MacScoop). A new Intel-based Mac mini line and the iPod Hi Fi have been launched during the event.
Mac mini
Along with the new Intel Core Duo and Core Solo processors, the Mac mini brings cool new features such as Front Row and 1Gbit Ethernet. However, we can notice that they use an integrated Intel GMA950 graphics processor with 64MB of shared DDR2 SDRAM. Just forget gaming on this Mac.
Mac mini Core Solo
- 1.5Ghz Intel Core Solo
- 512MB of RAM
- 60GB of storage
- Combo drive
- Intel GMA950 graphics processor with 64MB of shared DDR2 SDRAM
- 1Gbit Ethernet
- Bluetooth and Airport Extreme
- Front Row and Apple Remote
- Tiger and iLife
- $599
Mac mini Core Duo
- 1.66Ghz Intel Core Duo
- 512MB of RAM
- 80GB of storage
- DVDRW drive
- Intel GMA950 graphics processor with 64MB of shared DDR2 SDRAM
- 1Gbit Ethernet

We can also notice that both of the Mac minis sport a Firewire port as well as four USB2 ports. Older models had only two USB2 ports, Apple's move could be a confirmation of the report MacosXrumors had posted in early January claiming Apple will not remove FireWire from its Macs but rather add additionnal USB ports.
