While the development of Mac OS X Leopard progresses, a few details are being revealed by rumour sites and Apple's developers web site.
ThinkSecret has posted some screenshots showing the latest build of Leopard and confirms some rumoured features, while a page in ADC (Apple Developer Connection) web site, a Leopard technology preview page has been posted.
Among the features revealed by the technology preview are:
Resolution independance: the system can scale the user interface up and down without changing the display's resolution, allowing to use very high definition screens without making it difficult to read on the screen.
QuickTime is also improved with native 64 bit support, improved H264 codec and support of transparent alpha layers.
A new version of OpenGL, which already ships in the Mac Pro's pre-installed Mac OS X 10.4.8, is also included in Leopard. It provides multi-thread support, allowing very improved performance.
Recently, a few Safari features were revealed by a blogger: improved tabs, lightbox searching and resizable text areas.,
Apple has revealed a first set of Leopard features during WWDC 2006 but the company's CEO Steve Jobs told during the keynote that a few more features are kept secret.
Mac OS X Leopard is scheduled for coming Spring according to Apple's latest roadmap revelations.
