8-Core Mac Pros soon?

We missed this last week's one: AppleInsider claims that Apple will release a Mac Pro with two quad core Xeon chips inside, making it the first Apple workstation that includes 8 cores overall.

These new performance monsters could be released as soon as in mid-November, according to the site.

Wow, 8-core Mac Pros will be

Wow, 8-core Mac Pros will be huge!

My dual G5 is still doing what's supposed to but I think that I'll upgrade next year, when Photoshop will get Intel-ready.

I hope Adobe won't be late

I hope Adobe won't be late with the Creative Suite's Mac-Intel port.

Everybody is waiting this to buy a Mac Pro.

8 core monster machine -

8 core monster machine - golly!!!

This hopefully will be a wonderful animation/3d/creative hardware to purchase and explore with. I'm in if the price is fair.

I personally have been waiting - and hearing about Mac quad machines for over ten years now... make it so number one!!!!! I'm all for it Apple.

Vvrooom.

With all the comments about Quark being too little too late...

Adobe is actually the one behind.
Indesign is pretty sweet - but since it doesn't running Native on Intel Macs - it's the application less desired.
Marketing wise - Adobe did a fantastic job getting use to switch or learn Indesign... but along came Intel Macs. During this time Quark seemed to do nothing... but they didn't they gave use a Intel version... good going for them.

Indesign certainly is better than PageMaker though there seems to be hints that underlining this program -- Aldus still lives.

These 3 applications talk to each other - BUT - they are not well intergrated.
And the intergration isn't for ease of use to the operater/user. Almost every similar function / task is a different process.

Take for example - adding a shadow... in PS there are better controls and more accurate options/settings.
In AI you will find it lacks the fine tweakings of PS... and Indesign well ahem.

I wonder if anything else in the Adobe suite will harness the Multi Processor Cores like Photoshop does. Sure would welcome a boost in performace with Illustrator. Come on Adobe - bring back Premiere / AfterEffects to the Mac.

Actually - better they don't -- I wouldn't want Adobe to control my Mac.
Darn it Macromedia. Adobe is the Microsoft of today!!!!

Oh yeah - muticores.... ah yes... great on applications that ACTUAL need it.
So heavy intensive computational calculations really aren't needed in Indesign, possibly some (due to the rendering engine of AI) - but mainly 3D and Animation applications will benefit.

If your doing that type of work - a eight core machine maybe what you need.

Though - there are ways around this... get more machines and share the rendering over your next work.

It'll most-likely be cheaper in the long run.

Imagine for a moment -- that one eight core machine needing to go into servicing... your out a machine... but if you had four dual core machines and one goes out -- your still running your network with three engines.

Guess it all comes down to knowing what you really need.

I still would love to get one of these 8 core puppies to see what it can do!!!!

Hurray for options!
