Readers noticed on MacWorld Expo's web site that the description of a conference drops a hint at the announcement of the use of the 802.11n wireless standard in Apple's Airport technology.
On a session named "PI: Advanced Wireless", we can indeed find references to "Airport Extreme X2" and Airport Extreme X4" as well as the "802.11n" standard which allows high bandwidth wireless communications.
The current line-up of Macs officially supports the 802.11a, b and g standards, but after the release of the latest generation of iMacs, MacBooks and MacBook Pros, users noticed that the chips that are built into these Macs can support the 802.11n standard.
Additionally, when the "iTV" living-room entertainment appliance was introduced back in September 2005, Steve Jobs did not tell precisely what version of the 802.11 standard would be used on the device.
With all these facts, we can expect Apple to officially announce support for the, still in draft status, 802.11n standard tomorrow.
