Briefly: Apple releases paid 802.11n enabler, Dashcode beta, seeds Mac OS X 10.4.9

Here's a brief catch-up with this week's->recent software related news:

802.11n driver update

Apple has announced it will release an update allowing users of the latest generation of iMacs and MacBook Pros to enable the 802.11n wifi capabilities of their Mac.

The feature will however cost $4.99 to the customers. When Apple announced the latest iterations of the iMac and the MacBook Pro line-ups, it didn't officially announce that these Macs would soon support the 802.11n standard.

This represents an unannounced feature and Apple explains that, according to new laws, it has to charge users for this.

Dashcode beta

Apple has released a public beta of Dashcode, a peace of software allowing anyone to create widgets for the Dashboard feature introduced with Mac OS X Tiger.

Dashcode makes it a lot easier to create a widget than it used to be. It provides a WYSIWYG editor as well as several templates to start with.

Mac OS X 10.4.9 seeded

Apple has reportedly seeded a new build of Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.9 update. The build labeled "8P2117" fixes bugs on the following areas: "CoreData, CUPS, CFNetwork, Kerberos, Open SSH, SMB File Server, IOkit kernel, Unix commands and WebCore" among many others.

The PowerPC version weights 176.2MB while the Intel version weights 82MB.

This is like the 7th post I

This is like the 7th post I have read that there is a "NEW" Dashcode beta. I go to Apple's site and see it's the Dashcode I got back in December before anyone even started posting about this new Dashcode beta.

I understand that it's hard to keep up with new things when blogging, but a month old Dashcode beta doesn't really feel like something worth posting right now. Especially making it sound like they just released it. A suggestion... Post a date of the release, so that folks like us don't get excited and run over to make sure it's new or not.

That's why it's a "brief

That's why it's a "brief catch-up" with the news.

Not "this week's" regarding Dashcode news I have to reckon :).

I think the Mac OS X Leopard build is also last week's.

Sorry for the useless excitment :).

Well, at least last week is

Well, at least last week is reasonable. A month old seems a little to far back for me. I see a month old piece of news, I'm going to think it's new news.
