Apple and Cisco resume negotiations on the "iPhone" trademark

Apple and Cisco have reportedly resumed negotiations over the use of the "iPhone" trademark by Apple for its recently announced mobile phone.

The two companies made a joined statement over the status of the case:

"Apple and Cisco have agreed to extend the time for Apple to respond to the lawsuit to allow for discussions between the companies with the aim of reaching agreement on trademark rights and interoperability."

The "iPhone" trademark is owned by Cisco and the networking & telecom equipment company has filed a law-suit against Apple earlier this month when the computers and digital music players maker announced it's own "iPhone" branded product.

Cisco said earlier this month that it's not against the use of the trademark by Apple. It would like Apple to make its device compatible with it's own "iPhone" branded devices.
