Apple enables Youtube for Apple TV, says iPhone will also have it

Apple keeps the hype going mad today by enabling Youtube content to be played on the Apple TV as promised a few weeks ago and announcing that the iPhone will also be able to access YouTube videos.

Apple TV users may already go to the Software Updates section of their Apple TV so as to grab the update that will enable YouTube. Future Apple TV shipments will include the update.

The update also provides security refinements for Apple TV. More specifically, it addresses validation when processing UPnP protocol packets.

As recently speculated in one of MacScoop's reports, Apple has also announced that the iPhone will be able to browse and play YouTube videos as well.

The content will not be played in the Flash Video format as it's currently the case on YouTube.com. YouTube has actually started re-encoding its videos library in the H264 format which is natively supported by both the Apple TV and the iPhone.
