Briefly: Improved iPhone SDK, Boot Camp to expire, latest Leopard betas updated

Here's a catch-up with this week's software (and iPhone) related news.

Improved iPhone SDK?

ArsTechnica reports that Apple could be working on an improved SDK for the iPhone, allowing developers to integrate their applications with further iPhone features.

The kit will remain for web-based applications only though, according to the report. Apple has recently issued a Firmware update for the iPhone which disables the ability to install third party applications on the device.

Boot Camp beta set to expire

According to a note Apple has published on its web site, Boot Camp, the beta Software that allows Intel-based Macs users to dual boot on Microsoft Windows, will expire.

Leopard will include a final release of Boot Camp and we can expect Apple to either charge Tiger users for Boot Camp or oblige them to make the upgrade to Leopard so as to continue using the feature.

Earlier this year, MacScoop had been indicated that Apple will charge Tiger users for the final release of Boot Camp.

Leopard betas updated

Apple has issued an update working on both 9A557 and 9A559 builds of Leopard. The update appears to bring fixes to wireless networking and RAW image viewing.
