Briefly: Next Intel chips, 128GB SDD, new iTunes content

Here's a brief catch-up with the news, notice we're skipping the whole iPhone 1.1.4 fake rumours fiasco :).

Intel Montevina/Centrino 2 platform

According to Digitimes Intel will launch its new Montevina code-named chips at Computex Taipei 2008 on early June.

The platform will be commercially named "Centrino 2" and will come along with 45nm processors ranging from 3.26 to 3.06Ghz.

128GB SSD drive

As MacRumors points out, the first 1.8 inch Solid State Drive (SDD) that can fit inside a MacBook Air and has the same PATA ZIF-type connector has just been announced by Mitron.

Considering storage is one of the biggest limitation of the MacBook Air, this drive could do a great BTO option for Apple's new laptop, we can also notice it has quite great speeds (110MB/s read and 40MB/s write).

New iTunes content

BBC UK has announced it will start offering its shows on iTunes UK. The shows are available at £1.89 per episode.

Apple also announced it starts selling American Idol's performances. Music is avalable at $0.99 while videos are at $1.99.

Meanwhile, Toshiba is reported to have plans to cease production of HD-DVD players, signin the end of this format.
