Movistar has announced today that it struck a deal with Apple allowing it to carry the iPhone in Spain.

The now standard brief press release the mobile carrier has issued as well as bit of advertising material posted on its web site only indicate that the iPhone will be brought in Spain by Movistar and that it's coming later this year.

Several carriers have announced deals over the distribution of the iPhone during the past few weeks, covering nearly 70 countries and 700 million subscribers.

Still awaited deals for China and Japan will bring the coverage to more than a billion subscribers and will secure a significant sales jump for Apple's forthcoming new model which could be announced as soon as next week, during this year's World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC).
