Two new carriers announced deals with Apple over the distribution of the iPhone in Japan and Spain.

SoftBank Mobile will carry the the iPhone in Japan while Telefonica's Movistar confirmed it will carry the iPhone in for Spain. Moviestar's deal had already been revealed on Monday.

Neither of the two carriers provided more details on their deals and only said that they will distribute the iPhone -presumably the 3G version- later this year.

SoftBank's deal may not be exclusive as several reports have previously indicated that another carrier in Japan, DoCoMo would also carry the iPhone in that area.

In only a few weeks, Apple's iPhone availability has been extended from 4 countries to almost worldwide, covering over 800 million potential subscribers in nearly 70 countries (according to our own estimates).
