iTunes Movies now in UK and Canada

Apple has made its iTunes Movies offering available to U.K. and Canada customers today.

Both U.K. and Canada users now have access movie rentals or purchases. Pricing in the U.K. is between £2.49 and £3.49 for a rental or between £6.99 and £10.99 for a purchase. Canadan customers will pay between CAN$3.99 and CAN$4.99 for rentals and between CAN$14.00 and CAN$19.99 for purchases.

The 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM), Sony Pictures Television International and Lionsgate UK. have all agreed to provide content to these countries, bringing up nearly 700 movies in the offering.

Last week, Apple also announced TV shows in France and has been offering both TV shows and movies in the U.S. for more than a year and has extended its offering with more studios back in January this year.

The Apple TV has long suffered by the lack of video content in Apple's iTunes offering and has been considered as a flop by many commentators of the industry. If the TV shows and Movies offering becomes international by the end of the year, Apple may hope to sell a few more Apple TVs in the future.
