Apple reveals Snow Leopard, iPhone SDK beta 7 to developers

A few minutes after today's World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote, Apple has started providing information on Mac OS X Snow Leopard and has released the iPhone Firmware 2.0 beta 7 to developers.

Snow Leopard, no major features?

As we can see on a press release posted on Apple's Canadian web site (now removed), Snow Leopard appears to be focusing on quality and performance improvements rather than features.

Some additional information we recently obtained and published regarding Snow Leopard appears to be confirmed by Apple, as the major update will indeed open several new frameworks to developers, including QuickTime X which will allow developers to perform efficient video playback, OpenCL.

It is also reported that Apple is adding ActiveSync (Microsoft Exchange) support throughout the OS, including Mail, Addressbook and iCal.

More information should be available soon, though developers are under NDA on the training sessions they attend.

iPhone SDK beta 7 seeded

Developers also received a new "beta 7" version of the iPhone Software 2.0. No details on the features available on this beta have been revealed at the moment but we can expect the recently announced features to be included in this beta.
