Telefonica extends iPhone distribution deal to 16 countries
Telefonica announced today via press release that it will distribute the iPhone in 16 countries, in addition to the already announced deal for Spain.
Czech Republic, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela are added among the countries where Telefonica will distribute the iPhone without exclusivity.
However, deals in countries where Telefonica already carries the iPhone will remain exclusive. The carrier already distributes the iPhone in Spain, and its subsidiary O2 carries the iPhone in the U.K. and Ireland.
Apple announced during the April 9 World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC), that the iPhone will be available on July the 11th in 22 countries and 70 countries, including China and Russia by the end of the year.
