Since we've been migrating our content to a new system, we couldn't provide news coverage for a couple of days, so here's the news catch-up!

Disney sells 125 000 movies in the first week:

Disney's CEO Rob Iger announced during a Goldman Sachs conference that the company has sold over 125 000 movies on iTunes in the first week of the iTunes Movie store launch. Disney started with 75 movies available on iTunes and will offer more movies in the near future. The company expects to earn as much as $50 million from movie sales on iTunes for the first year.

MacOSXRumors started in 2002 with the goal to bring you reports on forthcoming releases of Mac OS X. The site quickly opened its scope to other Apple news and rumours.

In an effort to better reflect the content of this site and to avoid confusion with other rumour sites' branding, we decided to rename it MacScoop.

The former domain name, MacosXrumors.com, is now redirecting to the new site, but it will be used again in the near future so as to present a more Mac OS X - centric view of the site (highlighting software and mac os x related reports).

MacRumors cites reliable sources claiming to have information on the design of Apple’s much anticipated iPod Phone (or iPhone).

The site provides a mock-up of the phone as described from its sources. The device has a click-wheel that can slide down so as to reveal a traditionnal phone keyboard.
No details on the specifications of the phone are provided but the site’s author speculates on the possibility to play the recently announced iPod games. Additionally, sources expect the phone to be offered in three flavours.

Sources have been very firm on their claims that the new Merom Macbook Pro will be announced on the 25th of September at the special event Apple is preparing for the opening Photokina in Germany.

A few hours ago, MacWorld reported that it has received an invite from Apple for this special event. The invite which only states "Start photokina a little early this year", features the same image as on Apple's professional photo software, Aperture, released a year ago.

After his keynote presentation for the September 12 media event, Apple's CEO Steve Jobs was interviewed by CNBC on the latest announcements and on Apple's stock options internal probe.

Jobs told that the company is very happy with its iPod sales and has good expectations for the forthcoming quarters. For overall sales, Apple's CEO told "We've never sold this many of anything before, and so we're learning as we go, but so far we're pretty happy."

Apple has posted the new iPod ad that was showed to the audience during the september 12 media event. It features the latest generation iPod nano.

The company has also made available the webcast of the media event on its web site. You might however experience connectivity issues due to the high traffic Apple servers currently have.

The same day of the opening of Apple Expo in Paris, Steve Jobs performed a Keynote presentation from San Fransisco so as to announce some very anticipated new products. We've provided a live coverage during this event, of which you can now see the transcript on MacScoop.com.

As many analysts and rumour sites were expecting. The company has updated all of its iPod line-ups and has announced its online movie store. Another product which is code-named iTV has also been previewed at the end of the presentation.

Apple has temporarly closed its iTunes Music Store. The following message is displayed when customers try to access the store:

We're day-1 before the Apple-Expo Paris kick-off which will coincide with a media event scheduled by Apple. Here's what is expected and what is not.

As the invitation hints at a hollywood related announcement, many analysts as well as the press believe that the company is on the verge of announcing its own online movie store but with disney movies only.

Along with the release of the new iMac line-up, Apple has also updated its Mac mini line-up with faster Intel Core Duo processors for both models. The Core Solo-based Mac mini is no longer for sale.

Apple has just released a new line-up of iMacs which includes two new models: the first is a $999 economic model and the second is a 24 inch sized high-end model.

Here are the four new configurations available:

24-inch 2.16 GHz iMac ($1,999)
-24-inch widescreen LCD display;
-2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor;
-1GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM expandable to 3GB;
-8x SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVD+R DL/DVD+/-RW/CD-RW);

The press have received invitations to a special event that is scheduled by Apple on September the 12th.

The invitation is only stating "It's Showtime", which hints at announcements related to the movie industry.

Analysts expect Apple to announce new line-ups of iPods and an online movie store in the near future.

Reliable sources have informed MacOSXRumors that Apple is planning to introduce a 23 inch iMac on the first day of Apple Expo during a special event that will take place in San Fransisco and will be streamed to London.

The iMac will have an across-the-line upgrade to Intel's just released Core 2 Duo processor (Merom), sources claimed. No further details were provided about the technical specs of the new iMac line-up.
