Briefly this week: Apple's sues again, PowerPC's future, Christmas sales

Submitted by Alexandros Roussos on Fri, 2004-12-24 12:18

As macosXrumors wasn't updated much lately, here is a summary of this week's big news:

Apple started the week by suing three Apple Developer Connection members who have spread Mac OS X Tiger builds on the web through the Bittorrent P2P network. It was reported on Tuesday by Reuters. Meanwhile, it looks like developers are still reporting us about new builds that are made available on the ADC web site : Mac OS X Tiger Server build 8A325 has appeared on Wednesday, according to sources.

IBM has also given some details on its future PowerPC plans this week. Karl Freund, vice president of IBM eServer pSeries mentioned a new feature for the next generation dual core PowerPCs, that would allow them to boot multiple operating systems at the same time. However, he added that the feature would not be used by Apple in the near future. Full story on News.com.

And the week ends with quite optimistic news, as Apple's sales seem to be really high for the holiday season. If you look on Amazon's Electronics' top 5, you'll see as many as 4 Apple products. Analysts are also very optimistic about Apple's sales: Merrill Lynch has reiterated a "Buy" on AAPL stock this week, expecting iPod sales to be even more than 4 million units and the iPod had helped Apple to increase its market share during this quarter. MacObserver gives more details here.
