new 8-core Macs, when?

I'm looking to purchase the highest end video editing/3D workstation possible, by end of January.
Anyone know if they will have an 8-core Mac Pro by then? I hoped for one at MacWorld, but it didn't happen.
Anyone heard latset rumors?

Intel has already released

Intel has already released its quad-core chips so we shouldn't have to wait for long.

I guess you read this:

http://www.macscoop.com/articles/2006/12/30/8-core-mac-pro-and-new-displays-slated-for-january

They said it's for January, not necessary for MacWorld.

Let's hope it's true :).

I'm waiting for the 8-core

I'm waiting for the 8-core as well -- hoefully will be able to make Final Cut, Logic, and graphics even faster. I'm under the gun. I must upgrade before the end of February no matter what. I'll wait it out.

I just read that ArsTechnica mentions the PCI-SIG has just released the officlal PCIe 2.0 Spec.

Speculation:
Perhaps Apple is waiting for some early-bird products to enter the pipeline (read: video cards) prior to making the official release? If nothing else, it will make for an interesting 2nd half of 2007.

Where in the world is the update? It's been coming since November and word is Apple had it done months ago. I also need to buy 8 Processor Macintosh ASAP.
There was a rumor a couple of weeks ago Apple was going to announce new products on the 20th of February, but I haven't heard any followup recently.
My fear is Apple is going to wait until Adobe Creative Suite 3 is ready to come out before releasing new MacPro.
If they are waiting for Leopard, then I'm afraid we are in for a LONG wait.
If Leopard ships before June, I'll be shocked. If it does, then we ALL are going to become Beta Testers, for everything points to the fact it's far from ready.
Guess time will tell.

There is another factor that could be delaying new MacPros. ATI and nVidia have both came out with newer graphics cards and technologies that may be incorporated into the new machines: http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37581
