Here's a brief catch-up with this week's->recent software related news:
802.11n driver update
Apple has announced it will release an update allowing users of the latest generation of iMacs and MacBook Pros to enable the 802.11n wifi capabilities of their Mac.
The feature will however cost $4.99 to the customers. When Apple announced the latest iterations of the iMac and the MacBook Pro line-ups, it didn't officially announce that these Macs would soon support the 802.11n standard.
This represents an unannounced feature and Apple explains that, according to new laws, it has to charge users for this.
Dashcode beta
Apple has released [1] a public beta of Dashcode, a peace of software allowing anyone to create widgets for the Dashboard feature introduced with Mac OS X Tiger.
Dashcode makes it a lot easier to create a widget than it used to be. It provides a WYSIWYG editor as well as several templates to start with.
Mac OS X 10.4.9 seeded
Apple has reportedly [2] seeded a new build of Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.9 update. The build labeled "8P2117" fixes bugs on the following areas: "CoreData, CUPS, CFNetwork, Kerberos, Open SSH, SMB File Server, IOkit kernel, Unix commands and WebCore" among many others.
The PowerPC version weights 176.2MB while the Intel version weights 82MB.
