Apple releases new iPods

Submitted by Alexandros Roussos on Wed, 2005-02-23 12:28

Apple has just updated its iPod products. The iPod mini gets hard drive update to 6GB while the regular and photo iPod also see changes to their hard-drive capacity and their pricing.

Here is a sum-up of the new product line :

iPod mini :
- iPod mini 4GB (extended battery life to 18 hours and down-priced) : $199
- iPod mini, 6GB (extended battery life to 18 hours) : $249

iPod/iPod U2
- iPod 20GB (remains the same with same price) : $299
- iPod U2 Edition 20GB (remains the same with same price) : $349

iPod photo
- iPod photo 30GB : $349
- iPod photo 60GB : $449

The iPod mini gold is dropped, now the iPod mini is only available in silver, green, pink or blue colors. The iPod mini (4GB and 6GB) also brings battery life to 18 hours.

The white iPod and the U2 Edition iPod remain with the same features, battery life and pricing. The most signifiant change is on the pricing is of the iPod photo which is now priced $349 for the 30GB version and $449 for the 60GB version (instead of $499 for a 40GB version and $549 for the 60GB version).

These updates clearly confirm some information revealed on our report of November. At that time, our sources were confirming that Apple would release flash based iPods and were the first to claim that it would also drop the price of the 4GB iPod mini to $199 while releasing a new 6GB iPod for $249.
