Mac OS X Tiger build 8A393 and ARD 2.2 build 7C10 seeded (UPDATE)

Submitted by Alexandros Roussos on Fri, 2005-02-25 14:49

Sources reported that the build 8A393 of Mac OS X Tiger was seeded today to a restricted number of developers and that build 7C10 of Apple Remote Desktop 2.2 beta update has been made available earlier this week through the Apple Developer Connection web site.

While there is no detailed information about the changes in Apple Remote Desktop 2.2 at the moment, sources reported us the seed notes of the new Tiger build.

Issues fixed in this build:
- The Dock hang after dragging items to the Dock is fixed.
- CD installs work again.
- iDVD 4.x - 5.x and iMovie 4.x - 5.x can now see iPhoto 5.x photos in a users iPhoto library normally.
- Finder windows update window titles normally after switching to a new directory in the same Finder window again.
- FireWire devices (including iPods) should eject normally.
- iDisk syncing shouldn't hang.
- The blue screen after installation or at login should not occur.

New issues in this build
- The Spotlight search menu may crash upon occasion, but it will relaunch if it does.
- 21" Apple CRT displays turn off briefly and back on again when run at 1280x1024 85Hz. Workaround: set display refresh to 75 Hz in the Display system preference.

Issues still present since the last seed:
- The .Mac Sync pref pane and the Sync menu extra are slow and don't always agree on when syncing is happening.
- Some users have experienced Keychain corruption after enabling .Mac Keychain syncing. To avoid potential corruption, be sure to log out and log back in immediately after synchronizing against .Mac for the first time.
- Very rarely, login, security dialog or remote access authentication may be refused. Workaround: reboot.
- Text input other than English is not recognized in authorization dialogs. Workaround: hit command-space to change keyboards.

Issues for those installing the developer tools:
-Setting a breakpoint on a method name, then editing the source code, hitting "Fix" after editing and continuing program execution could cause the program to crash.
- New document windows don't appear on launch with Cocoa Java Document based apps created in Xcode.
- Setting a breakpoint by a function name, hitting that breakpoint, selecting "fix," stepping over the stack frame and then stepping out will confuse gdb.
- The Java debugger jdb may occasionally have difficulty connecting to the Java VM. Workaround: restarting jdb should fix the problem.

UPDATE: Sources have provided us further information about Apple Remote Desktop 2.2. This update mainly brings compatibility with Tiger, minor functionnality enhancements and bug fixes.
