Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.9 imminent?

  • News & Speculation

Several reports on the Internet claim that Apple may be preparing to release Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.9 update very soon.

Builds 8P2130 and 8P130, respectively for PowerPC and Intel based Macs have recently been seeded to developers.

These builds contain no known bugs and have fixed some related to Bluetooth, DVD recording and CoreAudio.

Apple has been seeding builds of Mac OS X 10.4.9 in a very high rate since January. The update is expected to bring a total of over 100 bug fixes to the company's operating system.

Older seeds included fixes on OpenGL, CoreAudio, CoreImage, CoreData, iSync, and the Sync Services engine, USB, File Manager, among several others.

As its version number suggests, Mac OS X 10.4.9 update should be the last major revision to Tiger 10.4.x.

What if there's a major bug introduced on 10.4.9?

Will they post a 10.4.9.1 update?

Like they did for Jaguar and Panther, they'll post individual updates for security and bug fixes discovered after the release of 10.4.9.
