As you certainly noticed, our "iPhone Launch" countdown timer now indicates 0 days left. In less than 24 hours, Apple and AT&T stores will open their doors and start selling the most anticipated electronic device ever, the iPhone. Here is a little summary of the latest news on it.
Apple readying iPhone RSS reader?
ThinkSecret notices [1] Apple has setup the reader.mac.com [2] subdomain which shows up a message informing the visitor that this page may only be viewed with an iPhone.
Probably Apple has a good example of Web 2.0 based application for the iPhone to show us for the launch.
When can I get the iPhone, where, how many iPhones I can get?
In a press release [3] posted earlier today, Apple provides information on the availability of the iPhone. As previously announced by AT&T and Apple, the iPhone is going on sale on Friday at 6 p.m. at Apple and AT&T stores which will operate until midnight. It will also be made avaiable for order online a few hours after its official release.
While Apple says it will allow the purchase of two iPhones per person, AT&T previously mentioned it will allow 1 iPhone per person on their stores. So if you're among those whose right hand will be jealous when the left one has the iPhone, you should rather chose an Apple Store to make your purchase.
More details, pictures
MacRumors provides some pictures [4] posted by forum members as well as a calculation [5] on the possible inventory Apple has built for the launch of the iPhone.
TheBoyGenious provides several details [6] found on AT&T training manuals. We learn about the existence of a pre-paid plan, unboxing, credit checks among other information. MacRumors gave the training manual a closer look [7] and found some interesting information regarding Bluetooth, 3rd party accessories, SIM card portability, Waranty and Repair Process.
Many thanks for helping us on the iPhone's pre-launch coverage
It's probably the first time MacScoop has so many stories posted in a month, covering the iPhone's pre-launch was quite a challenge for many Mac-centric sites on the Internet.
We were massively helped by you, readers, especially those who sent us your links to some interesting reports or your story submissions. Sincere thanks for that.
There are probably still some news to come until the iPhone finally goes on sale, stay tuned as we plan to keep updating regularly until this countdown timer goes to "0" seconds and after the launch!
