Apple may be on the verge of releasing a new iPod featuring a Multi-Touch display a recent report published on the Internet claims.
According to Digitimes, Apple has placed an order to Wintek for the manufacturing of Multi-Touch displays for its forthcoming iPod.
The online publication believes [1] that the Multi-Touch iPod will be released as soon as on August this year.
Taiwan-based Wintek will be the panel supplier of Apple's new iPod video, according to sources at upstream suppliers. Apple is set to launch a next-generation iPod video in August with the new products featuring a touch screen panel similar to the iPhone, the sources noted.
It is also reported that Apple has placed another order for Multi-Touch displays for the iPhone to Balda.
Though the reliablity of these reports is not confirmed, such a move would make sense for Apple as many of its customers await an "iPhone without a phone" since Apple introduced its new mobile phone.
On January, MacScoop reported [2] that a widescreen iPod featuring the same capabilities as the iPod feature of the iPhone was technically ready. It didn't ship before the iPhone though, as the reports we had obtained suggested.
