Apple has launched today, during a special event [1], a totally revamped iPod lineup with four different models and form factors.

The lineup now includes the iPod shuffle, the iPod nano, the iPod Classic and the iPod Touch.

iPod shuffle

The only change on the iPod shuffle is the introduction of a RED flavored model. The price remains the same at $79 for 1GB of storage.

iPod nano

The iPod nano has a slightly fatter form-factor than its predecessors but is smaller and even thinner than the previous models.

It comes in a new set of colors: RED, silver, light blue and teal & green.

It also brings a new, Mac OS X based user interface with cover flow and also supports video playback.

Battery life is 24 hours of music and 5 hours of video.

Two models are available: 4GB for $149 and 8GB for $199.

iPod Classic

This is the new name of the original/normal iPod form factor. It now includes a better 2.5 inch display, very increased storage and battery life of 40 and 7 hours, respectively for music and video playback.

It's available starting at $249 for the 80GB model or $299 the 160GB version which can hold the impressive number of 40 000 songs.

iPod Touch

This is the long rumoured phone-less iPhone which MacScoop was the first [2] to predict back in January.

It has a very similar form factor, 3.5 inch touch screen and user interface to the iPhone and comes in two versions. The first has 8GB of storage and costs $299 while the second one has 16GB and costs $399.

As you also read first on MacScoop [3], the iPod touch is even thinner than the iPhone and uses flash-based storage.

The iPod Touch is Wifi enabled and includes the same, version of Safari we can find on the iPhone. The iPhone's YouTube browser is also included.

Battery-life for the new iPod Touch is 22 hours of audio and 5 hours of video playback.
