Amazon sells Mac OS X Leopard for just $109

At the occasion of the announcement [1] of Mac OS X Leopard's official release date by Apple on Friday, Amazon.com, has started a promotion on both Single-user and Family Pack versions of the company's major operating system upgrade.

The Single-user [2] and Family Pack [3] versions of Leopard are both available for pre-order [4] and are respectively priced $109 and $189, instead of $129 and $199 which represents a 16% and 5% price cut.

Mac OS X Leopard will start shipping in both Single-user and Family Pack editions on October 26, the two items are eligible for Amazon's "free Super Saver Shipping" :

- Apple Mac OS X Version 10.5 Leopard [5]
- Apple Mac OS X Version 10.5 Leopard Family Pack [6]

Leopard features over 300 new features and enhancements, including a new Desktop and Dock, a redesigned Finder, the Time Machine ultra modern backup feature, a new version of iChat, multiple-desktops with Spaces, advanced file preview with QuickLook among many others.

A server version of Leopard which features setup made easier, iCal server, Wiki-based collaborative server and Podcast Producer is also available for pre-order in 10 Client [7] and Unlimited Client [8] editions for $499 and $999, respectively.

Amazon also offers a 5% price cut on iLife '08 [9] and on iLife '08 [10].

The online retailer has historically been offering very attractive prices for major Apple software launches.
