Apple updates the MacBook lineup, adds faster MacBook Pro

Apple has quetly updated its MacBook lineup and added a new, faster MacBook Pro CPU option on its online store.

Here are the specs of each new MacBook configuration :

MacBook White 13.3" 2Ghz
- 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
- 1GB of RAM
- 80GB of storage
- Combo Drive
- Intel GMA X3100 graphics (144MB of shared memory)
- $1099.00

MacBook White 13.3" 2.2Ghz
- 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 1GB of RAM
- 120GB of storage
- SuperDrive-DL
- Intel GMA X3100 graphics (144MB of shared memory)
- $1299.00

MacBook Black 13.3" 2.2Ghz
- 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 1GB of RAM
- 160GB of storage
- SuperDrive-DL
- GMA X3100 graphics (144MB of shared memory)
- $1499.00

The updated MacBook lineup brings minor speed improvements thanks to the use of Intel's latest Santa-Rosa architecture which features a 800Mhz front side bus and the inclusion of a faster Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphic chip. It also adds the possibility to upgrade RAM up to 4GB instead of 2GB for the previous generation.

The MacBook Pro isn't updated but a new Built-To-Order option for a 2.6Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU is available for the two faster configurations and offered at a $250 extra.

Additionally, the whole MacBook lineup now has 250GB hard drive option priced between $150 and $300 depending on the model.

The new MacBooks are available online or in physical retail locations immediately and ship with Apple's latest iteration operating system, Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 [1].
