Many rumour sites as well as other publications have mentioned this week for Apple announcements. Here's a recap of what was said during the last ten days :
Hardware :
ThinkSecret provided, last week, some confirmation [1] of recent revelations [2] on the forthcoming PowerMacs which should be single-core, the site says.
Meanwhile, AppleInsider said last week [3] that there would be hardware updates as soon as tomorrow, but stated today [4] that the hardware introductions would happen on the first week of May. The site is finally confirming [5], in another more recent article, that new PowerMacs are indeed coming tomorrow.
ThinkSecret and AppleInsider gave similar specifications for the forthcoming PowerMacs: speed-bump to 2.3, 2.5 and 2.7Ghz and dual-layer DVD burner should be the main improvements. The two sites also expect new eMacs and iMacs and possibly the Mac mini to be updated soon, but not nexessary this week. All of the updated Macs are said to have 512MB of standard RAM.
iTunes :
Persistent rumours suggest the opening of iTunes Music Stores in other countries this week. Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway were mentioned in a recent report of Music.ch [6], confirming earlier rumours [7]. Additionally, the actor and musician Russel Crowe told [8] to The Courriel Mail, earlier today, that the iTunes Music store will also open in Australia on April 28.
In other iTunes related rumours, ThinkSecret claimed [9] last week that Apple will release a minor update to iTunes, bringing it to version 4.8, but did no provide any guess on the release date. It wouldn't be a surprise if we see it coming this week though. The site also mentions "iTunes mobile" as being the name of Apple's Music store that will be used in the long awaited Motorola iTunes-phones but claims it will be announced only in June.
Mac OS X :
The only official information remains the scheduled release of Mac OS X Tiger on Friday, April 29. Special events are said to be scheduled so as to celebrate the release of Tiger in Apple retail stores.
UPDATE: AppleInsider now expects [10] the new PowerMacs to come on Wednesday.
