UPDATE: European stores were also updated to reflect the release of the 32GB iPod touch. The 16GB iPhone will be available in a few days in Europe, according to retail sources.
Apple quietly updated its online store and made available an iPod touch and an iPhone with higher storage capacities.
The iPod touch is now available in a 32GB version at $499 while the 16Gb and 8GB versions remain at respectively $399 and $299.
A new iPhone model has also been released. It features 16GB of storage and is priced $499 while the 8GB remains available for the same price, or $399.
"For some users, there's never enough memory," Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of worldwide iPod and iPhone product marketing, said in a statement (via CNNMoney [1]).
Apple is now expected to unveil its long-awaited iPhone software development kit allowing any developer to bring its applications to the iPhone without requiring users to use Jailbreak tools on their phone, which terminate Apple's waranty in case an issue is encountered during the process.
