Apple has announced that it has sold over a million iPhones during the first three days of availability of its new 3G model.

There is now no doupt on the success of this new iteration of iPhone as it performed more than three times better than for the launch of the first edition last year.

In addition to that, Apple announced that it has sold more than 10 million applications through the App Store during the same period.

"The App Store is a grand slam, with a staggering 10 million applications downloaded in just three days," said Steve Jobs in a press release [1] posted on the company's web site.

The store started with 500 applications but this number is growing quickly as several thousand developers have commited to bring software on the new mobile platform.

The iPhone is now available in 21 countries and will also be launched with a little delay in France this Friday.

Despite critisism about its plans' prices, the Canadian carrier Rogers claimed the iPhone was the fastest selling device of their history.

Stock outtages have already appeared in several of the store locations which sell it all around the world.
