According to an article from the french newspaper Le Figaro [1], Bouygues Telecom, which is one of the three major telecom carriers in France, will announce that it will offer the iPod phone by the end of this month.
The iTunes phone, actually named "ROKR E1" is a phone that has been co-developed by Apple and Motorola. It was announced yesterday by Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs, during a special event [2] orginized by Apple at the Moscone Center, SF.
The french mobile carrier has been testing the device during summer, according to the article. However, Bouygues Telecom will not offer the ability to download songs directly from the phone. The user will have to download the song from his computer (0.99ââ¬), using iTunes, then transfer it to his phone.
The article also relates other European carriers that may carry the iTunes phone: O2, Virgin Mobile and Orange will carry it in the UK and T-Mobile will carry it in Germany.
