MacsimumNews [1] notes a new patent revealed by the U.S. Patents and Trademarks Office on May 4, describing an iPod that allows to buy ringtones from a cellular network.
"The patent relates to the purchasing of digital media items and, more specifically, to the use of a portable wireless device to identify and/or purchase digital media items. In fact, ringtones are discussed, so we're talking telephony.
The patent also mentions a browser that will allow the user to make his purchase:
"Browsing, marking and/or purchasing media items according to several of the embodiments detailed in this application may be accomplished by using a browser application such as a WAP browser."
The patent states that the device includes a speaker and a microphone so it's obviously a mobile phone we're talking about. Apple is longly rumoured by analysts to be working on its own mobile phone that could be called the iPhone (trademark owned by Apple).
